“I enjoy the Lakenheath KSW School because of its family and friendly atmosphere. My son and I practice Kuk Sool together. It’s a great work out and an activity we can both enjoy. I am also attracted to the art of Kuk Sool because of its comprehensive study of the Korean martial arts and its consistency from school to school.”

LAKENHEATH INSTRUCTORS

Ashley Allen
1st Degree Black Belt
Assistant Instructor

A flash of light hair, an energetic grin, and suddenly Miss Ashley Allen is ruling the mat. A 1st degree black belt who has been teaching for two years.

JKN Allen’s open mind manifests in her wholehearted teaching. Born in 1980, she began training at KSW of Lakenheath in 1999 in order to be active and get a great work out. The additional benefits of learning self-defense gave her great confidence, she says, and she values them greatly. Her teaching philosophy is that one should focus on one's strengths and work hard for confidence, so that everything else will naturally fall in place. Although JKN Allen is fond of the forms, fan and sword (in that order), she also admits an affinity for the foundation kicks. Her role models are people that she is in contact with; people who are motivated, focused and with direction and personal success without compromising other values.

Jo Kyo Nim (JKN) Ashley Allen was promoted to 1st dahn in December 2002. In April 2003 she competed in Barcelona at the Kuk Sool Won European Championships and was overall 1st dahn Grand Champion. On May 30th she competed in the UK Championships entering 8 divisions and gaining a medal in every division 5 of them being gold and was presented the 1st Dahn UK Grand Champion. This was a great achievement as she had only become a 1st Degree Black Belt 4-5 months before the competitions. She also attended the World Championships in Houston in October gaining 4 medals out of the 5 divisions, 2 being gold.
